Best Time to visit Kashmir and Vaishno Devi

Best time to visit Vaishno Devi and Kashmir is from March to October. During these months the weather is perfect for tourists. Summer is pleasant making the trek to Vaishno Devi easier and more fun. Similarly, Kashmir comes alive in spring and summer with greenery, blooming flowers and clear skies giving breathtaking views.

If you prefer a cooler climate and want to see snow, winter months (December to February) are also good, especially in Kashmir. But trekking to Vaishno Devi during this time can be more challenging due to snow. Plan as per your preference of weather and activity.

Kashmir with Vaishno Devi Tour Itinerary

In Jammu, you take the trip to Katra first. Katra is acted as base camp for the holy journey of Vaishno Devi. You check into your hotel and take a rest before making the 14 km long way up to the shrine. This trek passes through Banganga, Ardhkuwari, Sanjhii Chat and finally Bhawan. Each of these stopping points has its own significance while the entire journey is a very spiritual one indeed. Then return back to Katra after darshan of Vaishno Devi. Depending on your speed, returning also takes approximately 3 to 4 hours.
Have a relaxed breakfast at the hotel before going anywhere else. After this you will be driven to Pahalgam known as ‘valley shepherds’. It will take about seven hours for you see beautiful landscapes and mountains during this ride. Check in to your hotel and relax. You can spend the rest of the day by exploring the surroundings or just relax in the beauty of nature.
On day 3 you will see the beauty of Pahalgam. Start with Chandanwadi where you will see snow. Then Betaab Valley was named after a Bollywood movie. If you are an adventure lover you can go Rafting in the Lidder River which has thrilling rapids and beautiful views. If you want to relax you can go to Aru Valley famous for its meadows and mountains. End the day by returning to your hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast leave Pahalgam and start your journey to Srinagar. En route you will see saffron fields and dense pine forests and get a glimpse of rural Kashmir. You will also visit ancient ruins of Awantipur a historical site. After 3.5 hours drive you will reach Srinagar. Check in to your houseboat on Dal Lake and relax and enjoy the surroundings. In the evening take a Shikara ride on the lake and see the beauty of Kashmir from the water.
Start your day with a visit to Shankaracharya Hill, a spiritual spot with a great view of the valley. Then visit the island of Char Chinar, famous for its ancient chinar trees. Next visit the Mughal gardens, Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh and Chashme Shahi. Each garden is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture and landscaping. Don’t forget to have a cup of traditional Kashmiri Kahwa. In the evening you can dress in traditional Kashmiri attire for a great photo opportunity.
Day six is an excursion to Sonamarg, also called the ‘Meadow of Gold’. The drive to Sonamarg is full of forest, river and mountain views. Upon arrival take a pony ride to Thajiwas Glacier where snow remains throughout the year. Sonamarg is breathtaking, with golden meadows surrounded by towering peaks. After a full day of sightseeing return to Srinagar in the evening and overnight at a hotel.
Travel to Gulmarg, one of the world’s best ski resorts, on day seven. The ride will involve some of the loveliest views in Kashmir, so ensure your camera is charged. You will also see the highest golf course in the world, located in Gulmarg and surrounded by mountains covered with snow. In addition, there is an exciting gondola ride that can take you up to Apharwat Peak which is completely covered with ice. You can then engage in things like skiing or snowboarding.
On the last day, have breakfast and after that come back to Srinagar. You should leave early for security checks at the airport in Srinagar. This is the last day of your memorable Vaishno Devi and Kashmir tour package. You will keep these memories of spiritual encounters and natural beauty for all your years.
